Does anyone know why new bus announcements are quieter than old ones?
For example, I was on the 436 going to Lewisham from Victoria and I could only hear a little sound saying "Vestry Road"

I agree, the Gemini 3 under SLN have very quiet iBus but I'm certain the drivers do that deliberately as they can turn up the volume from the iBus.

Some, like the Gemini 3s, are really quiet but the ones on the SN14 registered Enviro400s seem a bit louder than older ones. So I think it's the drivers changing the volume.

Yep, drivers can indeed change the volume, and even completely turn announcements off

I remember when the current 59-reg Citaros on route 521 used to have very loud announcements that it didn't sound clear through the speakers. But then, Citaros always seem to have a different tone of voice since the bendy bus days.
