www.busandcoachbuyer.com/tfl-requires-routemaster-refurbisher/Well why not give the 9H Routemasters to Ensignbus and London Bus Company? But what would it really benefit millions of passengers that use buses every day in London to have the existing Heritage Routemaster buses refurbished? IMO, time that TFL move on from the iconic AEC Routemasters and do more to invest into improving bus services, withdrawal of 9H is one thing they achieved beside overwhelming majority of people consulted against it.

I take it that you're not a huge fan of the Routemaster?

I take it that you're not a huge fan of the Routemaster? Well I am a fan of the AEC Routemaster, but it's time that TFL moves on. The AEC Routemaster can come back on vintage running days, Tube Strike or Railway Replacements. Better be thankful for the replacement of the Routemaster which is the New Routemaster so passengers can use the open platform for the part time use. Funny thing is, when the first NRM went to service in 2012 on route 38, there were angry protesters calling it a wastemaster. But I wonder why the Heritage RM's need refurbishing but the DDA law is pushing in on year 2017 for double decks because of wheelchairs. I wonder how much TFL is paying to have the Heritage RM's refurbished again.

The AEC Routemaster is, and always will be, the iconic London Bus. I think it's important that at least a few are kept in service. At least for a few more years. Unless you want to wait 20 years for the New Routemaster to become an icon.
And some of the NBFL routes are in driver-only operation, such as the 8.
