The bus, which is the latest to be produced by Volvo has the most up to date Euro 6 engine technology and uses a 5 litre engine instead of the standard 9 litre making it more environmentally friendly and fuel efficient.

The double deck bus, which has a modern design with glass panels at the staircase has been branded in our madder colours.

After successful intital testing, the bus will go into service next month from each of our depots.

Watch out for it on your route.

Looks really nice. Seems a bit unusual for Lothian to use LEDs but the livery fits very well. Apparently a non-London operator has ordered a large batch of B5TLs, wonder if it's Lothian.
Now Wright, where's the other London demonstrators?

A random teenager from south London with an interest in buses (obviously) who makes very long trips to the outer suburbs.

Lothian orders Euro 6 Volvos

Following a two-month trial of an evaluation vehicle, Lothian Buses has ordered 25 Euro 6 Volvo B5TLs with Wrightbus Gemini 3 bodies. The buses will have a dedicated wheelchair and buggy area, coloured LED destination displays, wi-fi, CCTV and distinctive full-height glazing on the exterior alongside the staircase, as fitted to the trial vehicle.

Ian Craig, Lothian Buses chief executive, says: “We pride ourselves on the quality of our operational standards, which is in line with our reputation for having one of the most modern fleets in the UK, and are looking forward to taking delivery of these new, state-of-the-art buses later this year.

“As well as providing all the facilities and comforts our customers have come to expect, they can be confident that they are travelling in a vehicle with extremely low emissions, therefore lessening our impact to the city’s environment.”
